VLV-Short Story-Bonding Under the Oak Tree

Rose sat under the oak tree by Sam's tent, jet black wings over her head to keep the rain from hitting her. Sam sat on the ground, a entertained smile on his face. He had a ball of water in his hands and was tossing it around, making weird shapes out of it every so often. Rose watched with a smug ecxpression before opening her mouth.

"How do you like that?" she asked him.

Sam didn't look up from he was doing but knew what she was talking about. "It'a my power that was given to me. Of course I'm going to like it. Rain makes me feel happier an' more free. I feel like I can do anything in the rain!" he exclaimed and looked at Rose with a big smile on his face.

Rose rolled her eyes and looked up through the leaves above her head, a raindrop hitting her nose turning it into icy flesh. "But it's so cold and annoying!" she exclaimed.

"Alright," Sam said and made the water he was messing with evaporate into thin air. He shifting his position on the ground so he was now cross legged, hands on his knees. "Let me ask you something."

"Okay."

"Why do you like flying?"

Ignoring the rain the was now pounding on her head, Rose shot to her feet. "Because I have wings! Because it's the most amazing thing in the world!"

Sam crossed his arms and turned his head away from her. "I don't see the point of flying when we have legs to carry us around," he smirked.

"These wings were given to me at birth, I have to use them. Having these wings is so incredibly amazing," Rose carried on and started flapping her wings so she was a few feet above Sam. "When I fly I..I...I feel like Wonder Woman! Or Super Man! Feeling the wind through my hair, the sun gleaming off my skin, the adreniline rush in my chest when I bank is so cool! I love it!"

"Now you under stand why I love playing with water."

Realization crossed Rose's face and she flew next to Sam, hitting his shoulder repeatedly. "You tricked me, you little bum! No freakin fair!" she yelled and Sam laughed.

Rose eventually calmed down and sat next to Sam, wings now tucked against her back. Through the wind and rain Rose could make out a figure that was heading their was. At first she thought it was Veronica, seeing as they had black hair, but when she put her hand above her eyes she could tell it was Blaze. And Blaze could tell it was her.

It seemed like Blaze wanted to talk to her brother but as soon as she had seen Rose she huffed and turned away, marching into the other direction.

"What's got her panties in a twist?" Rose growled as Blaze disappeared from sight.

Sam, who was now making indentions in the dirt with a stick, replied. "She still mad about the fight... and that I hang out with you alot," he commented.

"You've got to be kidding me..."

"I wish I was but no, it's true. She doens't really like it when other girls talk to me. Especially you."

Rose exploded. "What do you mean especially me!?"

Sam shrugged. "She thinks you like me. But I think she's wrong. I think you like Jayden."

"WHAAAAT!?"

Sam laughed and poked her side. "I'm just kidding! Honestly, I don't think you like me...or anyone else that I know of."

"Of course I like someone!"

"Who?"

Rose blushed deeply and looked away. "I'm not telling you..."

"Please!" Sam begged.

"No!"

"If you tell me I'll give you my last candy bar," he cooed. Rose looked at him from the side and saw that he was serious about this.

"All I'm telling you is you know him very well and I hang out with or around him A LOT. That's all I'm saying."

Sam smiled and shrugged. "Fair enough."

And as the hard rain slowly turned into a soft drizzly Rose couldn't help but to still blush since she almost told Sam who she really liked.
